Candidates for 2018 District Board of Supervisors
Logan Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors election will be conducted during the September 13, 2018 annual meeting, convening at Winner Harvest Barn, 7075 St Rt 47 West, DeGraff, OH,43318. Two Supervisor positions are to be filled. Voting will take place between 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Absentee voting is available at Logan Soil and Water Conservation District office, 324 Rd 11, Bellefontaine, OH. Information on the candidates follows.
Eric Johnson is from the Zanesfield area and is currently seeking a 4th term on the Logan Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors. Eric lives in rural Middleburg with his wife of 48 years, Kathy. They have four sons and four daughters-in-law and have been blessed with 13 grandchildren. Eric has recently retired from Heritage Cooperative where he was Chief of Staff. Through his work at Heritage Cooperative, he had the opportunity to associate with farmers and other members of the agriculture community in Logan County. Eric graduated from the Ohio State University with a degree in Agriculture Economics. He also served in the United States Army for three years. He spent 6 months in Brazil with the 4-H International Farm Youth Exchange.
Tim Lyden is currently seeking a 6th term on the Logan Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors and has served as an Area IV Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation District Director. Tim lives in rural Bellefontaine with his wife, Mary. They are the parents of daughter Jennifer, sons T.J. and Dan, daughter-in-law and are blessed with four grandsons. Tim farms with his two sons and wife, Mary. He no till farms 50 acres of corn, 100 acres of hay, 25 acres of wheat, 250 acres of soybeans and 10 acre woodlot. Tim uses intensive grazing with his flock of 50 Polypay sheep and crossbred ewes, as well as 25 cross-bred cows. Tim has planted 200 acres of cover crops and has installed 5000 feet of waterways, tree planting, windbreaks and a heavy use pad on his farm. Fifty acres of cover crops have been implemented in the farming operation. A new 40 ft x 80 ft manure pack barn is being constructed with the USDA/NRCS EQIP program. He has been a member of the Logan County Sheep and Lamb Association and the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association for 42 years. Tim graduated from the Ohio State University with a B.S. in Animal Science. He retired from teaching vocational education having taught a total of 35 years. He is a member of St. Patrick's Church where he served on the Parish Council for 8 years and taught Sunday School for 7 years.
Judy Skidmore lives in the City of Bellefontaine, She is the mother of Jill, Jocelyn and Jessica and the grandmother of Gavin, Lily, Abigail and Eden. Judy retired in 2011 as a Farm Service Agency Program Assistant. She was employed at FSA for 30 years. She currently works as the Office Associate with The Ohio State University Extension Logan County office. She serves as secretary of the Benjamin Logan Alumni, has been a 4H advisor for 12 years and attends Union Chapel Church. She has made numerous presentations about bees and beekeeping over the years including presentations at the Top of Ohio Ag Tours.
