A junkyard license is obtained at the County Auditor’s office.
Requirements for a junkyard license are:
The junkyard must be behind at least a six foot (6’) fence and must be no less than 1000 feet from the nearest edge of right-of-way. You cannot sell motor vehicle parts, nor can you have old tires. You must be in the business of buying, selling, and recycling scrap materials. Be sure to check with your township or village to see if you are zoned for this type of business.
