The Logan County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) was opened in October, 2002. It is a maximum-security facility, which can accommodate up to 36 juveniles that law enforcement or juvenile court place here. These juveniles are either adjudicated delinquents or have been arrested on delinquency charges. Logan County JDC is licensed by the Ohio Department of Youth Services and operates according to their requirements and recommendations. Programs Logan County JDC offers a wide variety of programs to the youth who are detained here. Education is provided year round by a teacher who is certified by the Ohio Department of Education. Subjects, which are taught here, include Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science. Many local agencies provide other programs for the youth. Health and hygiene, nutrition, self-esteem, anger management, career exploration and drug and alcohol groups are some of the classes provided. Religious programs are offered for the youth if they choose to participate. Youth are required daily to participate in recreation. Logan County JDC has both an indoor and outdoor recreation area. Leisure time and reading is also provided daily. An art instructor comes in two times a month to work with youth on their creative skills. Youth have access to make collect phone calls daily. The phone calls are limited to parents, legal guardians/custodians or their attorney of record. A court order may grant permission for others to be called. Youth on discipline status will not have access to programs with the exception of recreation and religious programs. Visitation Visitation hours are as follows: Tuesday and Thursday

***Only Parents and legal guardians may visit unless the youth's local court has granted permission for others to visit. This must be done through a court order.*** Picture identification is needed prior to visiting. Visitation is granted on a first come, first served basis. The visit may last 20 minutes. If a youth is on suicide watch or discipline status, they will not be allowed visitation. Parents may call prior to coming in to check on their child's status. Medical Logan County JDC has a medical staff consisting on nurses and a doctor. Each youth is screened by a nurse within 24 hours at the center. Prescription medication for youth should be brought in to the center as soon as possible after the youth has been placed here. Items which may be brought in Youth can receive three (3) sets of white undergarments. These can be underwear, bras (or under wires), socks, and undershirts/long johns. Phone cards may be purchased in the amounts of $10.00 for 20 minutes and $20.00 for 40 minutes. All phone calls made by youth from the center will be collect calls. Chap stick, pre-stamped envelopes, clear shampoo, clear body wash and clear deodorant may be brought in and given to our staff for approval.
